Neurofeedback and ADHD
Neurofeedback, also called EEG Biofeedback, is an important intervention for people with ADHD. It is a form of operant conditioning that trains individuals to increase stimulation to the areas of the brain that are under stimulated in those with attention dysfunction. The result is an enhanced ability to self-regulate – that is, to be attentive when one needs to be attentive and to be calm when necessary. Neurofeedback and Learning Disorders
Very recently, neurofeedback has been applied successfully to certain types of learning disorder (LD) or dyslexia. Brain scans have identified specific brain locations that, when under stimulated, affect reading and language. When stimulated by neurofeedback, these areas can learn to process normally, resulting in rapid remediation. Improvement of two to three grade levels in reading has been reported in the research.
